Termite Control

Termite Control

Mr. Bugg’s Pest Patrol currently serves the termite control needs of over 12,000 customers in both homes and businesses in Alabama, including Shelby, Jefferson, and Baldwin County.

While most pest problems involve ants, roaches, spiders, crickets, rats, or mice, here in the South, termites are extremely prevalent. And while you may not be able to see them, termites alone cause over 2 billion dollars worth of damage every year, which is more than tornadoes and hurricanes combined.

Knowing this, we stay up-to-date on all the latest methods and chemicals available so that you have several options to choose from when deciding which method of termite control is best for you. Structures are similar to fingerprints, and each one is different.

Keeping this in mind, we know that each house consists of subtle differences that require individualized attention. Based on these factors, here are some different options for termite control.  Liquid-Based Treatments are a style of treatment that requires a liquid-based chemical application to be made to the soil adjacent to the house.

Depending on each home’s layout, sometimes access to this soil may involve trenching, rodding, or even drilling. We currently use Termidor 80 WG, which has proven to be one of the most effective products on the market for immediate and long-term termite control.

The Sentricon System is a relatively new and more modern approach to termite control.  This method is based on the monitoring of bait stations placed in the ground, approximately 10 feet apart, around the home’s perimeter. No chemical application is made unless termite activity is discovered in one of the stations. The monitoring device will be replaced with the Recruit IV bait tube upon the discovery of termite activity. The active termites begin to feed on this bait and distribute it throughout the colony, thus eliminating the entire colony.
